Welcome to Ma-Ja’s restaurant situated in the heart of Carvoeiro, a quaint old fishing village on Portugal’s rugged Algarve coast.

Ma-Ja’s restaurant and bar is probably the only English run restaurant in town, specialising in homemade country pub classics and dishes from around the world. Mark and Jan quit the rat race in Britain in January 2007 to move to the Algarve to “live the dream” and opened up Ma-Ja’s in the spring of that year.

Since then they have steadily built up an excellent reputation with both the British ex-pats and visitors alike for serving delicious homemade food cooked by Mark, a fully qualified chef, and delivered to the table by Jan’s friendly service.
